Spring break will be here before you know it, and it’s time to release the winter months and embrace springtime and all of the fun that comes with it. You can take a road trip to explore a new state (or an unvisited city within our huge state!).

When Is Spring Break?
Spring break for Houston Independent School District (HISD) grades K-12 is March 13-17, 2023 (one week).
Here are the spring break schedules for Houston’s colleges and universities, all of which give students one week for spring break:
- The University of Houston: March 13-18
- Houston Community College: March 13-19
- Rice University: March 11-19
- University of St. Thomas: March 20-27
- Texas Southern University: March 13-18
- Houston Christian University: March 13-17
- UTHealth Houston: March 13-17
How Long Is Spring Break?
Spring break is almost always one week for both secondary schools and colleges. This includes five business days, which are bookended by two weekends. In total, spring break usually consists of nine days that are just waiting to be booked with fun-filled activities.
Spring Break Destinations
Houston is a fantastic city to spend your spring break in, with museums, attractions, and outdoor activities galore. Staying closer to home? Head to Discovery Green for tons of outdoor activities in the heart of Houston’s downtown. Through Friday, March 17, the park has an outdoor roller skating rink that kids (and adults!) of all ages can enjoy.

There are several movie theaters in the area, so after dining at one of our restaurants, why not cap off the night with a flick? Whatever you’ve got a taste for—Tex-Mex, Italian, steaks, or seafood—we’ve got your spring break night out covered.
